DELICIOUS APPLES FROM THE FRUIT AND BERRY PATCH.
A number of different apple varieties are grown at The Fruit and Berry Patch. We have apples getting ripe from late June until early November. Since apples store better than most other fruits, we generally have apples for sale from late June until late March. However, early ripening varieties do not store as well as late ripening varieties and only the later ripening varieties are available from early fall until early spring. Each variety is available for "pick your own" harvesting for about two weeks only. If not harvested during the short harvest season, the apples fall on the ground and are unusable. Therefore, many varieties will only be available already picked. Although we have four acres of high density apples and one acre of low density apples, we generally sell many more apples than we can grow. To satisfy the demand for excellent flavored apples, we often buy apples from a friend who has an orchard in Hendersonville, NC. In any case, we strive to provide only the best flavored apples possible. The following varieties are available at various times at The Fruit and Berry Patch and are listed in approximate order of ripening;
